A possibility , yes . Though , it had never surfaced in Edward ' s long years , that he would ever do such a thing . A boy of certain and usual nature - springing a thirst for curiousity. Curiousity that 's run deep , into the blood and veins of every Masen relative that still today exsists . Infact - one of the only direct decendants , through Edward ' s biological brothers , sat in the form of papers. Clutched desperately to his cold, firm grasp. He pounded Jasper ' s door . Well - who else was he supposed to bother , at this time of night ? Not that anyone was sleeping - however . Jasper was quick to become Edward ' s personal aid of choice - he often kept secrets , and was reliable - at most. Letting himself into the room ,that he had previously knocked on , Edward peered around . Once spotting the other male , he held up the papers instantly . He knew he didn't need to say much - Jasper would ' ve picked up on any feeling he may of had - either way . " Blood lines - curious things . " He started , the small , familiar smirk - brushing his lips in previous discovery. Closing the door behind him , he set the thin sheets infront of Jasper . As if to be proving the female ' s exsistance .
" Abigale Hazard . "

It was at times like these that Jasper wished beyond all else that he was able to sleep, simply close his eyes and allow himself to drift off, only to awaken to find that hours upon hours had passed while he was unawares. Unfortunately, much the same as eating, it was something he was only able to indulge in under a façade. Not that he even bothered often, there was no one under their roof that would be fooled, even for a moment and it did become awfully boring, or depressing depending upon his mood at the time. Allowing himself to simply think was hardly a good thing nine times out of ten, it often lead to memories surfacing from all those many years ago.
Even now, as he poured over the report he needed to complete for English class, the work did little to distract the man who had completed the same course at least a dozen times previous. Indeed, he had done the same report no more than four years previous, a fact that meant it would be all to simple to simply print it from the laptop that rested on the end of the bed that was a focal point in the room that he and Alice shared. Quite ironic, given the point that neither of them ever used it for anything besides recreational purposes.
Scrunching up the paper that contained more doodles than actual words, he tossed it across the room, the small thud it made when it bounced off the room resounding in the silent room. If he wasn’t careful, he was going to do the exact thing he had been attempting to prevent for the last couple of hours or so, simply let himself think. No, when you were a hundred and sixty six years old, reflecting tended to give one a headache, or at least as close to one as a Vampire would ever experience. Well, unless they had been blessed with such a power as Jasper had, the combination of feelings he sometimes experienced second hand was enough to pain anyone, even a Vampire.
Leaning forward, he tugged the laptop onto his lap, flipping the screen open and giving it a moment to load. There was little chance he was going to be able to write a decent report that evening and with it being due in the morning, he had little other choice. Clicking into his own documents, as opposed to Alice’s, it took little time for him to actually find the document he needed, before clicking the print button so it would print off in the downstairs study, ready for him whenever he decided to collect it. It was a pain when Alice decided to go hunting – it left him with little else to do. He really was terrible at finding something to entertain him without Alice around.
After checking his emails, more out of hope than actual chance that something might be waiting in his inbox, he soon closed the laptop once again. Depositing it on the end of his bed, before falling back, sprawling against the soft duvet – humans really didn’t appreciate how fortunate they were being able to sleep whenever they pleased. Letting his eyes fall closed, it seemed only a second later they flew open again, almost in synchronicity with the door flying open, emitting an overly excited Edward. You’re too excited it makes me nervous. Even his thoughts sounded wary, as a paper was thrust in front of his face.
“Explain.”

" Explanation ? " The word slid back and forth across Edward ' s tongue , as if he were enjoying the taste . " My explanation - the last able bodied Masen on earth . " As it were - no longer a story or a dream . It was the truth . Edward ' s extensive research , a result of many a sleepless night . Had led him fruitful , to the finding of the mentioned girl . " Her name ' s Abigale Hazard . Seventeen years old , Chicago , Illinois. Daughter to recently deceased Margret Masen , and absent husband , Benjiman Hazard . " His point was still slightly unclear . Though - he knew he was likely to continue . The foundation of his statements sounded somewhat stalker like , toward a female he had never met . It didn't surprise him , in the least . It was weird the way the world worked - how easy it was to forget , to move on . That was exactly what he had done , for the pat 106 years . Forgotten any relation that would ' ve put him , or his adoptive family , in danger . Through 1918 , as an unfortunate cost , he had to leave his biological family . Forget , and move on . Which for even a boy like Edward, was easier said than done . Something he played by, fueled his search for the last Masen blood heir . You can forget memories , But you can ' t forget feelings . Feelings that he felt , as a young , healthy teenager , in 1918 - were not so easily forgotten , now .
When here he was , standing foot in Jasper ' s room , holding papers to his face . He must've looked nothing short of a madman , for instance. But now , he didn't care . Not one , little bit .
" She ' s the last of my family . The very , very last , of my own blood . "
Edward glanced across the small picture , once more .
Simple , fragile . Yet - what he ' d call , beautiful .

Jasper nodded slightly, a motion slight enough than any human would no doubt have missed, though one that Edward would doubtlessly had seen. “May I?” He enquired, not waiting upon an answer, as he plucked the paper from Edward’s grip, amber eyes scanning the document with interest. How curious. He had been well aware that Edward had brother and they themselves had produced children, but like much like Edward, he was a little overwhelmed by that fact that Edward had a living relation. It shouldn’t have been surprising, but like many things he experienced these days; things someone born in 1843 should never live to experience, it astounded him.
”She’s attractive,” he concluded, noting the similarities between Abigale and the woman he had come to call his wife. Petite. Fragile. A sort of sickly undertone, as though despite the fact she was human she avoided the sun. Perhaps his thoughts weren’t what one would deem appropriate, they somehow seemed to fit the situation as his gaze shifted from the picture to the words that he had simply glanced over, as he now took care to read each line. “You’ll want to meet her, won’t you?” Not that you’ll be able to tell her who you are, do you really think she’s accept all this?

Edward took a seat, at the foot of Jasper ' s bed - his darkened eyes , glancing once more over the picture . " I don ' t expect myself to explain to her , who I am . She just lost her mother - she has no one else . As far as I ' ve read , and searched . Her father is gone . It ' d make my entrance a lot less perculiar . " Moving his fingers across the words , he tightened his grasp upon the papers. The copy held every word he ' d need to find her - and for the time being , was his unhealthy attachment . Though for being a vampire - how unhealthy can one get ?
" I thought I ' d bring it up with you first , before Carlisle . I already know what ' d he ' d think , and say . It doesn't take Alice , to figure such things . "
" And though I could of gone to Emmett , I feared he ' d get caught up with the picture . Like you said . Attractive ."
In all honesty , Edward needed the truth . - Though he knew , no matter what the decision .
He probably wouldn't listen .

“You should take Alice with you.” It pained him to think of loosing her, if even for a few days. But still, he was all too aware that there was no reason in attempting to persuade Edward against doing something he had his heart set on and while he was just a tad resentful, he honestly did want things to go well. She’d feel less threatened with another female around. He offered up as an explanation, having had plenty of express with how humans reacted to many situations, at least internally.
“When are you planning on leaving?” His head tilted slightly, curious about how long Edward would be able to sit on this information and do nothing.

" Not very long - a couple days , at the most . " Edward's eyes lightened only slightly, when he turned to face his brother . " I just think it needs to be worked quickly . " The same , deep tone , mentioned . Rubbing the palm of his cold, pale hand , against his arm - he sat in silence .Jesus, he did sound crazy. He sounded like some obsessed stalker, moving in on his prey , after years of watching her - or something . When to his knowledge , all he had been doing - was tracing family lines . Though it pained him to see his name , close to the top of that tree - 1901 - unknown branded with an unknown grave . He knew he was no long Edward Masen , no . Edward Cullen was his rebirth , his change . But as far as he knew - he ' d have to step foot back into both families , to bring the last of his blood here . " Unless you thought , waiting would've been right . I assumed catching her at her mother's death would seem far less suspicious. " What a feeling , no less . He couldn't help but feel that he was throwing Jasper's emotional track too and frow .

Jasper lifted his hand, his fingers rubbing his temple habitually whilst Edward spoke. It did nothing to ease the pain of the emotional turmoil in his own mind, but it was simply a quirk he had acquired, that routinely surfaced whenever he was feeling a little overwhelmed. “Do you know where she's living?” Are you sure she’s still residing at her home since her mother’s passing and not with a friend? He questioned, lifting his gaze as his hand fell from where it had been positioned against his temple.
It quite was possible that he was simply fueling Edward’s paranoia now, attempting to subconsciously convince him to stay and not go gallivanting around the country in search of this girl. He had a family that knew and accepted him for what he was, what need did he have for a distant relation whom he would never be able to whom he would never be able to disclose who he was?

She's staying not too far from where I was born -a friend . " Edward fixed his sights on the floor, at gazed at the dark, hardwood flooring. There was nothing Jasper could've said and done , to make him stay . Once Edward had his heart set on something , he knew he ' d follow through . Years of experience, trial and fail - had a lot to do with this. If he didn't find her the first time , he ' d only try again . Part of him felt the need to know her - to understand what happened to everyone , once he left. Abby would ' ve been the key to his story . His mother , his father . Brothers , Nieces. The missing piece , to a very old puzzle . " I can't help but assume that Esme and Carlisle may feel pushed aside . After what he did for me . "
He had to do , what he had to do . There was nothing , no one , that could stop him now . He ' d bring her back , he ' d help her adjust . If everything went well - she wouldn't even question a thing . A family member , showing up for a funeral. Taking her back , settling her in . She may even be thankful .

It was only to be expected that Edward would have discovered every detail before revealing his research. It made sense, because while Jasper didn’t see the sense in attempting to stop Edward doing something he had his heart on, others weren’t able to experience that unbridled passion.
“You know better than anyone how you get, when you have your heart set on something. There is little point worrying yourself over what someone’s going to think when you’re still going to go ahead anyway.” From where he had been reclining against the pillows at the head of the bed, Jasper leant forward, resting a hand against Edward’s forearm. He often felt guilty imposing his own emotions onto other people, but getting worked up couldn’t be healthy. Vampire, or otherwise. Relax.

Edward almost instantly settled into the bedframe, watching his brother cautiously. He knew what he was doing - and he wasn't about to stop him. Why would he ? Feelings of being uneasy, anxious , frustrated , and nervous - weren't anything Edward could say he liked. But none the less , like everyone else, he had the same annoyance. Sifting his hand across the table, he set the papers down - and focused on Jasper. The same cold - dark stare. ' The one who looks like he's in pain . ' The statement was true. Edward didn't know much about Jasper's past , he had never brought himself to ask. It had been a very , very long time . You'd expect, with nothing else to do , and not even the ability to sleep - it would've come up . But no , not in the boy's memory . Though he though to himself, no matter what Jasper's previous affairs were , pre-cullen styled. He knew it had to do with pain , and emotion strain . Or Jasper wouldn't of looked the way he did , with his slightly sunken eyes - a strange place for Edward to find comfort. But none the less - comfort , at it's best.

His hand curled lightly against the fabric of Edward’s shirt, the cold skin beneath hard like stone as he tenderly stroked his arm in a manner that was meant to be comforting. Now, while he had been calming people for decades simply by willing them to be calm – even the occasional touch – he wasn’t nearly as practised with actually physically comforting someone. The few times Alice had gotten to the point where she was inconsolable, they had ended up tearing off each others clothing and falling into bed, well more so wall – but that probably wasn’t a thought he wanted to be having in Edward’s presence.
Despite the fact that Edward would have had to be quite thick, something he certainly wasn’t, not to pick up on his feelings for Alice, Jasper had become accustomed to banishing all thoughts of her from his mind whenever Edward entered the room. It wasn’t that he felt guilty per say, but he still felt like it was somewhat wrong to think about things like that when Edward didn’t have someone to have such feelings about himself.
Not that Jasper believed he would ever be entirely comfortable thinking such things around Edward, even should he find someone he could call his own. It seemed like a part of his mind that would be too explicit for Edward to witness, not because he particularly wanted to keep it a secret, but because he didn’t want to make him feel uncomfortable. Much the same as his past – there were no doubt many things about Jasper that would make Edward cringe away should he spy them in his thoughts.
